REGISTER

1. You may have to clean the roof of this vehicle with surface cleaner to get all the green stuff off. This must be done before you start to glue the dome.

When you purchase the dome it will included all the things you should needed to fit it.

It had solvent cleaner, gloves, cloth, primer and glue for fitting the dome. Also cable, hole cover and seal.

Getting down to the install.

(PUT THE GLOVES ON); 

Once you have cleaned the worst of the gunge off the roofyou can then proceed.

Clean the roof with the solvent cleaner and cloth from the pack. This will remove any grease that would stop the glue from sticking.

Also ensure that the feet of the dome are clean of any grease by cleaning with the solvent.

If you intend to use the Camos mounting feet for mounting on a boat for example. Ensure that the feet are clean too.

Make sure you remember to clean the hole cover.

The Glue that is provided with the Camos Dome Satellite System is a 2 part adhesive. A tube of glue and a setting agent.

The primer MUST be applied in the dry. If the roof is wet then don't even think of trying to glue the dome on. IT WILL FALL OFF.

Place the Dome on the roof of the vehicle or boat and use a pencil to draw round the feet.

Ensure that the connector for the satellite cable is to the rear to keep it out of the worst of the rain and dirt.

When this has been done you will see exactly where to put the primer (little glass bottle).

This is painted on using a brush type thing in the pack.

The primer needs about 20 minutes to go off before you can do anything else.

Time for a brew I think.

THE PRIMER MUST BE DRY BEFORE YOU PROCEED. IF ITS A DAMP DAY IT WILL TAKE LONGER TO DRY.

Now I opened the glue from the pack and applied it to the feet on the dome as this is the easiest way to do things.

 I then placed the dome on the roof. A good idea marking out with a pencil.

YES- This is on a boat, I forgot the photo for the one on the motorhome.

Done.

 You may want to use an existing hole that has been covered over or remove the antenna.

To remove the antenna, unscrew the 3 screws. Under this is another 3 screws the pull. Don't forget to undo it inside first.

The Cable

Fitting the cable is easy, just screw it onto the dome and clip on the waterproof cable seal.

It is worth pointing out again this stage that you should fit the done so that the cable entry point is facing to the back of the vehicle.

OK. Now that I have fitted the dome to the roof you need to think about the location of the hole for the cable. It may be worth taking out the existing antenna and using the hole for the cable

However, you sometimes need a new hole.

From the inside of the vehicle had a look at the position of the cupboards and wardrobes. You may decided to come in through one of the cupboards as they are close to the dome on the roof and close to the television point. Also take into consideration the clothes cupboard. 

Check to ensure that the hole will not go through any existing cables in the roof by drilling at the front of the cupboard nearest to the door.

Next go onto the roof and cleaned it and apply the primer as before.

Once the primer has dried, pass the cable through the hole and through the cable entry cover.

Then glued the thing down and press it into place to ensure the glue seals the hole.    That's it for the sticking.

The main problem facing the caravan owner is that the roof of a caravan was not designed to take any real weight. If you wanted a satellite system in the past you would have to use a tripod and dish set-up.

However, the camos dome system is now an alternative for the caravanner who is sick of setting up his manual system time and time again. With the flick of a switch, the camos dome offers you a fully automatic satellite system that can be used on the roof of your vehicle without damaging it. (The camos dome system weighs only 9.4kgs which is an acceptable load for most caravan roofs. We advise you to check with the manufacturer before you purchase any system for advise as to the best place to fit the unit.)

If you have read the previous paragraphs then you will already understand the advantages of the dome satellite system vs the more conventional satellite system and appreciate that the dome is weather proof.

So what more has the camos dome to offer you as a narrowboat or leisure craft owner?

Well, the Camos Dome satellite system has one more trick up its sleeve that makes it well suited for use on boats. The camos dome satellite system can be mounted on removable plates so that it can be removed should you wish to do so. Quite often on the waterways of the united kingdom you will come across a bridge or passage that requires the removal of even the chimney, so having a conventional satellite system of 21cm fitted to your boat would cause some problems.
